Field Applications Engineer description

- Pre-sales and post-sales support for microprocessor and system controller products.
- Pre-sales duties include presentations of highly sophisticated SoC/System controller with embedded processors and removing obstacles to design win.
- Post-sale responsibilities include reproducing customer problems for software/hardware engineering to correct, and work with the applications development team to integrate into the customer code, provide system and firmware level test, and release to customer.
- Candidate must be able to solve technical problems involving hardware of software issues
- Work with key customers to identify trends in upcoming IC development to help guide the design of new products
- Contribute to product development by determining customer product needs and translating those needs into new product recommendations.
- Use technical knowledge of client’s products and associated development tools to assist customers in applying them to their application.
- Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with customer design engineers and with the internal product development groups.
- Work with Sales and Marketing to develop sales and support strategies.
- Contribute to the development of both functional and design level product roadmaps with external customers and internal groups within the company.
- Write and present technical papers as needed, including design documentation and application notes

Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 to 8 years of experience in related field. BS and/or MS, EE or CE, similar degree
- Experience with embedded processor architectures including PowePC, MIPS, XScale, ARM
- Ability and willingness to travel to customer sites regularly
- Embedded C / Assembly experience
- JTAG emulator debugging experience
- Debug experience using various lab equipment including protocol analyzers, scopes, logic analyzers, etc.
- Experienced with an SoC or integrated controller/processor desired
- Experience with ARM cores
- Experience with embedded OS desired: Linux, VxWorks, NetBSD
- Integration of software components into an existing code base
- General usage/knowledge of embedded tools is required. Familiarity with GCC,  Green Hills tools
- Digital audio and video knowledge as well as data transfer knowledge is a plus
- Good social and interpersonal skills.
- Multi-culturally sensitive with the ability to adapt behavior to situation.
- Process and quality oriented.
