For last-minute information on running the software or using the documentation, please refer to the ADS 2003A Release Notes on the <a href="http://www.agilent.com/find/eesof-docs" target="_blank" >Web</A>. </P><H4>UNIX: Hidden Dialog Box During Installation </H4><P>During installation of ADS on UNIX, it is possible that one or more dialog boxes requesting input are temporarily hidden by various message windows. If you don't see the dialog box you need, try moving windows around your screen to see if it is there but hidden. </P><H4>PC: Path and Filename Restrictions </H4><P>ADS does not allow spaces in file and directory names. </P><UL type=disc><LI class=MsoNormal style="mso-margin-top-alt: auto; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: list .5in">Do not install ADS using a path that contains spaces <LI class=MsoNormal style="mso-margin-top-alt: auto; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: list .5in">Do not specify as your startup directory a path that contains spaces <LI class=MsoNormal style="mso-margin-top-alt: auto; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: list .5in">Do not create design or project names that contain spaces<p></p> </LI></UL><H4>PC: Uninstalling ADS </H4><P>You can use the ADS <I>Uninstall</I> program or the Windows <I>Add/Remove Programs</I> feature to remove ADS software. However, you should visually inspect your installation directory for any leftover files when the uninstall is complete, and delete them manually before re-installing ADS. </P><H4>How the License File Works </H4><P>In ADS 2003A, the environment variable, AGILEESOFD_LICENSE_FILE, controls which license files and/or servers to use. </P><UL type=disc><LI class=MsoNormal style="mso-margin-top-alt: auto; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-list: l2 level1 lfo2; tab-stops: list .5in">If AGILEESOFD_LICENSE_FILE is set, ADS 2003A will attempt to check out licenses from the license files and/or servers specified by this environment variable.
By default AGILEESOFD_LICENSE_FILE is set to point to <INSTALL_DIR>\licenses\license.lic (on the PC this is set in the Windows registry). <LI class=MsoNormal style="mso-margin-top-alt: auto; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-list: l2 level1 lfo2; tab-stops: list .5in">When both AGILEESOFD_LICENSE_FILE and the older environment variable, LM_LICENSE_FILE, are set... <p></p><UL type=circle><LI class=MsoNormal style="mso-margin-top-alt: auto; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-list: l2 level2 lfo2; tab-stops: list 1.0in">ADS 2003A will first request licenses from the server specified in the AGILEESOFD_LICENSE_FILE. <p></p><LI class=MsoNormal style="mso-margin-top-alt: auto; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-list: l2 level2 lfo2; tab-stops: list 1.0in">If no licenses are found, only then will ADS 2003A request licenses from the server specified in the LM_LICENSE_FILE. <p></p></LI></UL></LI></UL><P auto; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto"> <p></p></P><H4>PC: Previous versions of ADS on the same system<p></p></H4><P auto; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto">You can install several versions of ADS on a single PC but,it is recommended that:<p></p></P><UL type=disc><LI class=MsoNormal style="mso-margin-top-alt: auto; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-list: l1 level1 lfo3; tab-stops: list .5in">Do not install a newer version of ADS on top of or in the same installation directory as the older ADS on your system<p></p> <LI class=MsoNormal style="mso-margin-top-alt: auto; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-list: l1 level1 lfo3; tab-stops: list .5in">Keep your license file separated if you going to use both 2002C and 2003A on a single system.<p></p> </LI></UL> |
