Job Description:  Senior JAVA  Software Engineer

Description –
Designs, modifies, develops, and implements web applications using Java.  5-7 years of experience developing software applications.  Has a working knowledge of a variety of technical concepts, practices, and procedures.  Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.  Follows disciplined software development practices.  Up-to-date on current and best practices related to software development.  Consults with other engineering staff and product marketing to evaluate requirements of overall system.  Performs requirement analysis, dependency and estimation on a variety of complicated technical tasks.  May structure, task, direct and review the technical work of others.  Has the ability to make good judgment calls.  A degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

Responsibilities –
• Design and implement Java APIs, business objects, and unit tests
• Design and implement SQL queries
• Design and implement JSP pages
• Performance Analysis
• Re-factor existing Java APIs to meet new requirements

Technical Skills –
• Required: Java programming & Object Oriented design, Strong Java Servlet, JSP and JavaScript experience; UML, XML, SQL
• Desired: Web application infrastructure & design, J2EE, Code re-factoring, Performance profiling & analysis, familiarity with unit tests (JUnit or similar regression test technology)
• Plus: Rational Rose, Clearcase, Subversion, or other Software Configuration Management system, Rational ClearQuest or other defect tracking system.

Business Skills –
• Required: Good Written and Oral English Communication skills, Flexible, Able to work independently, Self-Motivated, Detail-Oriented, Team Player, Familiarity with structured software development methodologies (experience with Scrum or other Agile Methodology is a plus), Appreciation of business process and change management
• Mentor new employees and team members
