QUALCOMM CDMA Technologies (QCT) strives to constantly improve the
indispensable communication tools our customers use every day. QCT creates
state-of-the-art chipsets, system software, development tools, and products such as the
Launchpad™ Suite of hardware cores and software. This enables the most advanced
wireless devices while continually reducing complexity, cost, and board-space
requirements.
The QSC60X0 device represents the next generation of QCT chipset architecture and
enhancements for voice and entry-level multimedia handsets by integrating Mobile Station
Modem ™ (MSM™) baseband, radioOne® RF, and power management functionality into
a single 15 mm x 15 mm mini scale package (MSP). Together these functions perform all
of the signal processing and power management tasks within a subscriber unit. This
enables reduced handset complexity, cost, time to market, and board space requirements
while providing many features and functionalities.
3G products based on the QSC60X0 device may include:
■ Voice-centric phones
■ Music player enabled devices and applications
■ Camera phones (requires the QSC6030 device)
■ Entry level multimedia phones
■ Other applications and devices
These products will benefit from QSC60X0 support for enhanced security, text, graphic
and picture messaging, high quality audio and speakerphone support, polyphonic
ringtones, voice capture, MP3/AAC/AAC+ music playback, megapixel image capture, and
a whole suite of other applications using the core Wireless Internet Lauchpad features.
The QSC60X0 solution also provides a seamless migration path from 2G to 3G services
and applications, and includes the 4GV™ vocoder for additional increases in voice
capacity for CDMA2000® 1X networks. It is designed to exceed the specifications of
mobile stations for worldwide cdmaOne™ and 3G 1xMC systems, including those based
on the IS-95A/B and IS-2000 standards.
To simplify discussion of this highly integrated device, topics are addressed within three
major categories that generally align with previous generation IC partitioning:
