OV7690 is designed for China ULC market. If you want the performance, try to use the OV7670 or OV7725. If you concern the cost, try the OV7680 or OV7690.
for FPC design,it is no problem, need 3mil track/3mil clearance rule within chip.
the advantage of ov7690 is there is no RESET pin, this is very very unique and advantage VS OV's competitor, so for ov7690, the pin assign is shrinked from at least 21pins to 20 pins, i agree with ChiefHe this is a killer product and final version for VGA.
CSP(Chip Scale Package) means die size is same as package size, if Pin count more than 20pin, you need to make ball array as 4*6 or 5*5, for ov7690, the Pin count is only 20pin, the ball array is 4*5. so package dimension of ov7690 is the smallestl. From cost point of view, no one could compete with ov7690.
Just compare ov7670 and ov7690,ov7670 point as high image quality product, ov7690 point as the best-buy, cost-efficient product.
