Introduction
Silicon Laboratories’ Aero™ transceiver family
integrates most of the functions for a complete RF front
end for GSM and GPRS wireless communications.
External components are required for matching
networks between the integrated LNAs and the SAW
filters, RF and IF inductors for the integrated VCOs, and
power supply filter capacitors. This application note
describes guidelines for PC board layout of these
external components. The Aero/Aero+ transceiver
consists of three integrated circuits (ICs): The
transceiver (Si4200), the universal baseband interface
(Si4201), and the synthesizer (Si4133T for Aero,
Si4134T for Aero+).
Power Supply Connections
To minimize interference coupling to the power supply
lines, connect all ground paddles on the three ICs to
GND using as many vias as possible. All VDDx pins
may be fed from a single supply or regulator and locally
bypassed with a high self-resonance capacitor located
next to the package. Recommended bypass capacitor
values are given in the applications schematic in........ |
