【简 介】:The paper is concerned with the design of digital transmitter
and receiver filters with finite impulse response (FIR) for data
transmission over band-limited channels. Such filters are used
in data modems realized predominantly in digital technology.
The filters are designed so that optimum spectral concentra-tion is achieved in the transmission bandwidth of the channel, and zero intersymbol interference (ISI) is obtained when the filters operate in cascade. Analog filters are still required after digital-to-analog conversion at the transmitter output and pre-ceding analog-to-digital conversion at the receiver input,, but
they can be relatively simple. In this paper, the presence of sig-
nal converters and analog filters is neglected with the assump-
tion that the analog filters compensate the sin (x)/x effect of
digital-to-analog conversion and reject signals outside the band-
width covered by the digital filters, but otherwise are trans-
parent to the signal transmitted. It is also assumed that the
channel introduces no distortion within its transmission band-
width.
