Coaxial Connector
The coaxial connector consists of a male and a female end with four different materials: metal, teflon, rubber and air. All geometric dimensions have been parametrized, so that a fully automatic optimization can be done in CST MICROWAVE STUDIO. Goal of the optimization will probably be the minimization of the input reflection S11 for the desired operation frequency band. Also the outstanding visualization possibilities of MICROWAVE STUDIO allow a better understanding how the fields behave inside the structure. Additionally a TDR analysis can be performed and the S-parameters can be used in order to extract a SPICE replacement circuit for the desired frequency band.
MCM-D Lange Coupler
Introduction
Tiny structures: This example is a four port coupler, created with coplanar lines. Within the operational frequency range signals fed into port one will be transferred to port four and three but not to port two (similar for the excitation of the other ports). Although the structure looks quite complicated, the construction of the model is not very demanding. It is mainly made out of bricks and some mirror and extrude operations. For the excitation of the coplanar lines multiple pin wave guide ports are used. The example has been published in IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques (see bottom of page).
