EMC Engineer
Are you interested in having your EMC expertise and excellent project management skills play a key role in the development of some of the most exciting new products in the world?
This skilled engineer will provide a key function for the compliance team through definitive EMC design expertise, responsible for an exciting, cutting-edge family of products. Additionally, this detail-oriented engineer will represent the compliance team in product development meetings, preparing and scheduling test programs, and synching cross-team to meet all compliance deliverables required for a worldwide product launch. She or he will also be responsible for researching requirements in multiple disciplines and obtaining compliance certifications for hardware products in all markets.
This person will work closely with other development engineers (Electrical Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, ASIC, Firmware and Industrial Design) as well as with Product Planners, Marketing, User Assistance, Legal and Localization services to ensure that our products meet global technical requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate should have Bachelor or MSEE degree, and 10+ years of of high-volume consumer electronics experience as a compliance engineer focusing in EMC. Additional experience in Radio, Safety, Energy Efficiency, International Regulatory Certifications or a similar disciplines a plus. The candidate must have demonstrated strong project management skills and a good understanding of product compliance. Ability to work with ambiguities a must. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required to seamlessly work across groups and at all levels.

RESPONSIBLE FOR
• Working productively and seamlessly as a member of a skilled team of compliance professionals
• Representing all electrotechnical compliance disciplines in multiple product development teams in various Microsoft business groups
• Coordinating all necessary worldwide electrotechnical documentation, testing, declarations and certifications
• Providing definitive subject-matter expertise in the fields of electromagnetic interference and compatibility. Specifically:
o Development of EMC design requirements for electronic modules at a circuit board and system level
o Optimize schematics, PBA placement and routing to meet EMC requirements for Emissions and Susceptibility
o Setup and performance of circuit level and structural electromagnetic simulations
o Correlation of simulation models to physical test measurements
o Formulation of system and circuit board level initial EMC protection
o Review and translation of customer EMC requirements and procedures into EMC test documents and design concepts
o Expert-level knowledge of EMI test and mitigation
o Support the EMC compliance team in the development of common (best) practices
o Perform on-site and off-site development test support
o Development and presentation of EMC training concepts internally to Microsoft engineering staff
Pluses:
• Good practical knowledge of regulatory aspects of intentional radiators
• Good practical knowledge of regulatory product safety and energy efficiency
• Good practical knowledge of SPICE, CAD/ CAE tools
• NARTE certification for EMC or Product Safety
EDUCATION
• Bachelor or Masters (preferable) - Electrical Engineering with educational focus in electromagnetic aspects of design and development of electronic systems
