About the Author
Inder Bahl received a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute
of Technology (ITT), Kanpur, India, in 1975. From 1969 to 1981, Dr. Bahl
held positions at IIT Kanpur, the Ottawa University, and the Defense Research
Establishment, Ottawa, Canada. He joined the ITT Gallium Arsenide Technology
Center in 1981 and worked on microwave and millimeter wave GaAs ICs.
At M/A-COM (formerly ITT GTC), in his present capacity as a Distinguished
Fellow of Technology, his interests are in the area of device modeling, high
efficiency high-power amplifiers, high-power limiter/LNAs, three-dimensional
MMICs, and the development of MMIC products for commercial and military
applications.
Dr. Bahl is the author or coauthor of more than 140 research papers. He
has authored, coauthored, or edited eleven books: Microstrip Lines and Slotlines
(Artech House, 1979); Microstrip Antennas (Artech House, 1980); Millimeter
Wave Engineering and Applications (John Wiley, 1984); Microwave Solid State
Circuit Design (John Wiley, 1988); Microwave and Milllimeter-Wave Heterostructure
Transistors and Their Applications (Artech House, 1989), Gallium Arsenide
IC Applications Handbook (Academic Press, 1995); Microstrip Lines and Slotlines,
Second Edition (Artech House, 1996); RF and Microwave Coupled-Line Circuits
(Artech House, 1999); Microstrip Antenna Design Handbook (Artech House,
2001), RF and Microwave Circuit and Component Design for Wireless Systems
(John Wiley, 2002); and Microwave Solid State Circuit Design, Second Edition
(John Wiley, 2003). He has also contributed chapters to Handbook of Microwave
and Optical Components (John Wiley, 1990); Handbook of Electrical Engineering
(CRC Press, 1997); and Wiley Encyclopedia of Electrical and Electronics

Engineering, Vol. 13 (John Wiley, 1999). He holds 15 patents in the areas of
microstrip antennas and microwave circuits.
Dr. Bahl is an IEEE fellow and a member of the Electromagnetic Academy.
He is also an associate editor of the International Journal of RF and Microwave
Computer-Aided Engineering.
