VDO = Drop out voltage
you can see your LDO spec. and the parameter was written on spec.
for example :
you want to design the output 3.3V ,and you use VDO=1.5V LDO component
so the valid min. input voltage = 3.3V+1.5V = 4.8V
if you use lower than 4.8V as input voltage , you should not get the LDO output voltage value that you want.
