1. Violence erupted this morning outside the US embassy in Damascus, Syria. Witnesses say gunmen stopped a car, got into a gun fight with Syrian guards, then blew up their car. Three gunmen were killed. No Americans were hurt.
2. Residents of Bermuda are cleaning up after Hurricane Florence. The storm brought heavy winds, did some roof damage and knocked out power. Another tropical storm in the Atlantic, Gordon, is expected to miss the island.
3. Two beams of light continue to shine up from New York City until dawn this morning. The tribute in light represents the lost twin towers from the World Trade Center. It displays just one of many memorials to the 9/11 attacks five years ago.
4. Two astronauts have started the spacewalk outside the International Space Station. Joe Tanner and Heidemarie Piper are installing the power cables for a new solar array and its supporting truss. The walk is expected to last six hours. |
